Charlotte 2 Canada - By Car - Montreal #roadtrip #travel_blog

One day of sight seeing in New York needed 2 days of resting!! So that's what we did. We spent a day relaxing in New Jersey visiting friends and temples. In the evening we started driving to Connecticut. The drive was only 2 hours but the weekend traffic made it longer.

After 4 hours of drive we reached Danbury, Connecticut. That place is always close to the heart because it is the first city we landed after departing from our mother land. The Hat City hasn't changed much even after a decade.

Next day went faster than we thought and we had to start our drive to Canada. After finishing our lunch on the way at Poughkeepsie, NY we drove straight to Montreal, Quebec. The drive was almost 5 hours 30 minutes. The route we took was scenic and had no cellphone network. It is better to download the maps beforehand.

We had a immigration check at the border. It was a drive through and took almost 30 minutes to cross the border. We were only asked usual questions and the documents were checked.

As soon as we entered Montreal it was altogether a new experience. Suddenly the road signs changed into French and our GPS started showing the distance in K.M. instead of Miles.

Before visiting Canada make sure that you mobile data plan has got coverage. All credit cards are accepted but there is a fee on non-international cards so plan ahead.

We had booked our accommodation in Dorval which is closer to the border and the airport. Next morning we started around 9.00 from the room with the plan of visiting St. Joseph Oratory of Mount Royal. We were advised by the locals to take uber for sightseeing (Parking limitations) but we decided to drive our own as the charges were bit higher.

When we typed our destination in the GPS it took us to the church just streets away. Driving around the neighborhood made us realize that there is a St. Joseph church located in every nook and corner of the street. This time we clearly entered the address and after 20 mins
we came to this famous tourist spot which is beautiful.

We spent almost an hour at the church and then drove another 20 mins to see Down Town Montreal. We parked the vehicle a bit far away but enough parking garages are available in and around Down Town. We walked straight to Norte Dame Basilica of Mount Royal. The church's architecture was amazing in and out. We need to purchase tickets to view this attraction though!

It was lunch time. This locality is filled with restaurants just like any other down towns. After that we walked 2-3 blocks just to admire the European style buildings. Governor's Garden is another attraction to be seen here.

There is a Giant wheel located closer to the water front from where you could see the beautiful city view. We were told that the night view will be breathtaking but we couldn't stay that longer. Boating and zip lining was also there.

By the time we finish all these it was Dinner time. We took the car from the garage and drove to an Indian Restaurant, parked in the street and had our food outside admiring the beauty of Montreal.

The Architecture, People's French accented English and Statues made us feel like that we were in Europe.

Montreal, Quebec is a must visit place!!

More Miles to cover..
